HNI, a global leader in office furniture manufacturing and hearth products, headquartered in Muscatine, Iowa, embarked on a transformative journey to enhance its digital capabilities. As one of the largest players in its industry, HNI faced challenges such as demand volatility, escalating supply chain costs, and the imperative for instantaneous product and service delivery.

Business Requirement

In response to these challenges, HNI initiated a comprehensive migration of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. The migration encompassed critical systems including Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Value Chain Planning, and Oracle Service-Oriented Architecture, transitioning from both hosted and on-prem data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).

HNI's operations were hindered by a complex technology landscape consisting of legacy systems and multi-cloud solutions from various vendors. This complexity resulted in a slow response to change and a hindrance to rapid innovation, impeding the company's ability to meet the evolving needs of its global customer base.

Cloud Transition Objectives

The primary objective of HNI's transition to OCI was to gain agility and efficiency in the face of market dynamics. By leveraging the capabilities of OCI, HNI sought to achieve deeper visibility and control across its entire organizational value chain. The move to the cloud was envisioned as a strategic initiative to enhance customer service and streamline internal processes.

In collaboration with ennVee, HNI successfully executed a seamless migration of their critical Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) workload to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The 'Lift-and-Shift' approach, coupled with strategic upgrades and meticulous planning, paved the way for HNI to unlock the full potential of their application workloads on OCI.

Business Impact

HNI witnessed tangible performance gains by harnessing the power of Oracle Exadata. Currently, 60 Linux servers are thriving on OCI, showcasing the scalability and efficiency of the platform. The successful migration to OCI has empowered HNI to fully unleash the potential of their application workloads, driving efficiency, optimizing costs, and minimizing downtime.
